The Enrichment Program

The School offers opportunities, within the curriculum, for students to participate in a wide range of enrichment programmes, as part of their creative learning at The Deens. The programmes offered are:

  • Music
  • Dance
  • Art, Craft and Pottery
  • Sports like skating, swimming, basketball and athletics

After 5 years, when the student reaches middle school, he/she chooses the activity he/she wants to pursue for a whole term. Students have to choose 1 activity from each group in order of priority for each term.

Every Saturday is an activity day. A lot of extra-curricular activities such as skating, athletics, swimming, chess, Abacus classes are held to promote these skills in students. Students are encouraged to participate in these activities.

HOUSES
House activities are organized to build up team spirit. The House system gives opportunities to students to face the challenges of Inter- House Competitions as well as competitions organised by various other reputed schools. Each House is led by a House mistress who oversees the well-being and social development of members of the House. The four Houses, which derive their names from Latin, are Flavus (yellow -truth), Rubrus (red- strength), Caeruleus (blue- integrity) and Prasinus (green- valour).

The House system encourages competition in various areas of school activity.

Each house has captains, chosen by students of grades 3 upwards, through a process of secret ballot at the end of a week of campaigning; the nominees being chosen by the teaching faculty. The Students Council is sworn into office in a formal Investiture ceremony. The student council is responsible for the general discipline of the School.

EDUSPORTS
The Deens Academy partners with Edusports Pvt Ltd to implement an integrated sports curriculum, emphasizing skill development through physical activity for students.

Age-appropriate props are integrated within this curriculum, that is based on the physiological development profile of children, such that, we help build a healthy, fit and physically active generation.
