Ahoy, me mateys!
Welcome aboard the Deen’s - Black Pearl and be prepared for adventure, rich spoils and a whole lot of merriment. Yo! Ho! Ho!
Captain Jack Sparrow, Sinbad of the seven seas, Black Beard, Captain Hook and many, many more from lands far and busy, sailed in to Deen’s on Friday, the 4th of July – Daddy’s Day!
The day was dedicated only to the Daddies of our Deenites, with no Mummies allowed; for some serious (well, not too serious) father – child bonding. The Daddies went all out to be the best Pirates for their little ones. Right from the effort made into looking the part, to playing the games in true mock pirate spirit (cunning included!)
The Daddy pirates were more than willing to build their crew, and those children whose Daddies were unable to reach harbour, were happily adopted for the day by some of the other Daddies. In this way no little pirate was left feeling like s/he did not belong to a marauding band of pirates, and was able to enjoy the festivities and gather loot with his/her replacement pirate Dad. Exemplary spirit ! Well, that’s how Dads are!!
Games like the Drumstick Sword Fight, Walk the Plank, Pin the Eye Patch and Pass on the Treasure, found the Daddies, with their crew themselves having a hearty time. The winners were rewarded with certificates and took away chocolates in their loot. After the fun and plunder, the hungry band of pirates headed for some hearty grub.
The festivities came to a close with the children of the Deen’s choir singing “So long. Farewell”, bidding adieu to their fathers. After reluctant Goodbyes, the little pirates headed back to their respective classrooms, as they transformed from being pirates back to our wonderful Deenites! |
